SECOND LEED for Homes Inspection Passed!
MARCH 2010 - We recently passed our LEED rough framing inspection. This is the second inspection the project has earned - and we're terribly proud of that fact. Adding to the good news, the inspection crew was impressed with our site. They noted how clean it was, and how many materials were captured and reused. They noted the absence of a roll-a-way dumpster, normally a fixture on construction sites. Ralph Plumb, President, Atlantic Building, explained that a deliberate decision was made to block the easy removal of trash. By not having a dumpster present, the team was forced to sort and filter all trash before hauling it away, mostly in small doses. He estimates that this small change has saved more than 20% of lumber used. The team, lead by veteran carpenter Shawn Gilmore, deserves a big congratulations. Thanks for all the great work, guys. More to come...
